Dog Racing
Dog Racing or Greyhound Racing is a form of racing in which dogs compete with each other as they pursue a lure around the race track. The dogs run in a counter clockwise direction. The Australian Greyhound Racing Association’s membership is made up of the foremost racing bodies in Australia. The Australian Greyhound Racing holds the AGRA National Sprint and Distance Championships each year (i.e. The Nationals). Finals take place over 500 metres and 700 metres. The National Sprint Championship is a Group 1 event with a prize of $50,000. The same goes for the National Distance Championship.
In 1990, the Australian Greyhound Racing Association established Group 1, 2 and 3 events. The Association also developed the Australian Greyhound of the Year Award in 2002.
